Description
Granulated cornflakes for a perfectly crispy chicken schnitzel
Granulated cornflakes, just like breadcrumbs and panko, are perfect to prepare a chicken schnitzel. A crispy chicken schnitzel, because these granulated cornflakes give the piece of meat a crispy bite. This typically American way of cooking has also been popular with us for quite some time. You can find chicken schnitzels with a crispy layer in almost every supermarket and butcher's shop. But of course it is even tastier to work with granulated cornflakes yourself. At Natural Spices you can order granulated cornflakes in packs of 2.5 or 15 kilos. Due to the addition of malt (germinated, dried cereal grains), this is not a gluten-free product.
How to make chicken schnitzel with granulated cornflakes?
Making chicken schnitzel with granulated cornflakes is a very simple process. Before you start, make sure that the pieces of chicken (or small pieces, in the case of chicken nuggets) are thoroughly dry. This ensures that the granulated cornflakes attach better to the chicken. Then immerse them in beaten egg and pass them through the finely ground cornflakes. You can then choose to bake them in a pan or in the oven. Keep in mind that the granulated cornflakes absorb more oil. Chicken schnitzel from the pan is therefore considerably fattier than chicken schnitzel from the oven.
Mix granulated cornflakes with herbs
Do you love that crunchy bite and want an extra thick crispy layer? Then repeat the above process and pass the chicken breast twice through the beaten egg and the granulated cornflakes before frying. And isn't just a crispy layer enough? Then you can mix the granulated cornflakes with salt, pepper and various spices. Think for example of oregano, cayenne pepper or garlic powder. You choose the flavour you prefer. You can also buy these and other dried herbs online at Natural Spices.
