Steak tartare herbs and spices for the tastiest toppings on a toast

With steak tartare herbs and spices, you make the tastiest steak tartare yourself. This meat product is also known as tartare préparé. It belongs to the meat products and is made from ground and raw lean beef such as steak. Our southern neighbours have a coarser variant which they eat as a complete meat dish or with chips. In the Netherlands we eat it in a slightly different way. We especially like the meat product made with the spice mix as a toast topping with a drink, or simply on a sandwich. You can order steak tartare herbs and spices online from us in a package of 450 grams or 1.5 kilos.

The origin of steak tartare

In no time you make the tastiest steak tartare with the steak tartare herbs and spices that you can buy online here. Judging by the name, you would think that it was an American recipe. Nothing could be further from the truth, because Americans are horrified by raw meat. The origin of the dish lies in Belgium. That is where the tartare du boeuf, small sliced raw steak, has been unprecedentedly popular for ages. The oldest tartare recipes were created 300 years ago. During the Second World War, steak tartare sauce was introduced by the Americans. This idea was applied to the steak du boeuf and this is how steak tartare came into being. Not American, but inspired by the Americans.

How do you use steak tartare spice mix?

The mix is very easy to use. You add 30 to 40 grams per kilo of beef. The spice mix consists of paprika, pepper, onion, coriander, nutmeg, chilli, mace, turmeric and celery. This makes it a complete spice mix. In addition to these herbs, the beef is also made with mayonnaise, beaten egg yolks and Worcester sauce. Stir well and finish off with chopped onions and finely chopped, sweet and sour gherkin.
