What is ground coconut?
Coconut ground comes from the stone fruit of the coconut palm. A stone fruit is a fruit with a hard kernel in its core. A coconut consists of four layers: the coconut fibre, the skin, the flesh and inside the coconut milk or coconut water. The coconut fibre is the firm, green shell that is removed after harvesting. This is how the 'hairy' wooden nut (the skin) with the delicious flesh appears on the inside. The white flesh is dried (called copra) and ground.
