Airfryer chicken with Cajun spices (or Pablo's Potato)
Sometimes you just want something that’s on the table quickly, but still has that full, spicy flavor as if you put a lot more effort into it. This airfryer chicken with Cajun spices is exactly that kind of dish. Spicy, slightly hot and nicely golden brown – with that typical Cajun vibe of paprika and garlic that always works well.
The nice thing is: you need little to get this right. With a simple combination of Cajun spices, paprika powder and garlic you’re already set. If you want to make it even easier for yourself (and be sure the flavor is balanced), you can also use our Pablo’s Potato mix. That gives the same warm, slightly spicy seasoning and works surprisingly well on chicken.
Serve the chicken with one of the Natural Zero sauces for extra flavor without it becoming heavy. Think of a fresh garlic sauce, spicy sriracha or a sweet-savory teriyaki – this makes the dish a bit more exciting, while keeping it light and suitable for every day.
Ingredients (2–3 people)
- 400–500 g chicken (thigh fillet or chicken breast, in pieces or strips)
- 2 tsp Cajun spice mix or 2–3 tsp Pablo’s Potato
- 1 tsp paprika powder (smoked or sweet)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (or 1 fresh clove, finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Pinch of salt (optional)
- Pepper to taste
- Juice of ½ lemon (optional)
Method
Pat the chicken dry and cut into even pieces. Mix the Cajun spices (or Pablo’s Potato), paprika powder, garlic and olive oil into a marinade. Toss the chicken well so everything is coated.
Preheat the airfryer to 180°C. Place the chicken in a single layer in the basket and cook 12–15 minutes. Shake halfway so the chicken cooks evenly.

Check that the chicken is golden and cooked through. For extra color you can go to 200°C for the last 2–3 minutes. Finish with a squeeze of lemon juice if desired.

FAQ – Airfryer chicken with Cajun spices
1. Can I mix chicken breast and thigh?
Yes, that works fine. Thigh remains juicier and more forgiving in the airfryer, while breast is a bit leaner. With breast, take care not to overcook to avoid drying out.
2. How do I know the chicken is cooked?
The chicken is done when it is no longer pink inside and the juices run clear. For certainty you can use an internal temperature of about 75°C.
3. Can I make this recipe without oil?
Yes, but a little oil helps the spices adhere better and gives a nicer color and flavor. Without oil the chicken will be a bit drier.
4. Which sauce goes best with Cajun chicken?
That depends on your preference. For fresh and creamy a garlic sauce works well, for spicy a sriracha and for sweet-savory a teriyaki. The Natural Zero sauces are ideal if you want to keep the dish light.
5. Can I marinate the chicken in advance?
Definitely. Let the chicken marinate 30 minutes to a few hours in the fridge for extra flavor. Short on time? Cooking directly still works well thanks to the powerful spice mix.
