Ground beef stick seasoning for the most popular snack in the country
With the ground beef stick seasoning that you can order online at Natural Spices, you have the perfectly balanced herbal mix for making beef sticks. The beef stick or 'frikandel' has been the most popular snack in the Netherlands for more than 20 years now. Although almost everyone tends to get it in the snack bar or from the vending machine, making your own 'frikandel' is easier than you think. Especially when you use this seasoning. You can buy the mix here online in a pack of 750 grams or 6 kilos.
The history of the 'frikandel'
The 'frikandel' was developed just after the Second World War, in the fifties. At the time, the Commodities Act amended the regulations governing meatballs. However, a butcher from Dordrecht decided to change not the recipe, but the shape of this snack. This gave rise to the meatball in sausage form, the 'frikandel'. A few years later they decided to grind the meat even finer, just like the Americans did. This is how the 'frikandel' of today came into being. It is now a top favourite among snacks in the Netherlands and Belgium. A 'frikandel' is made from a mix of different types of meat and f'rikandel' mix.
With 'frikandel' mix you can immediately get to work
Do you plan to make your own beef sticks? Then you don't need much more than this ready-made 'frikandel' mix. You use 30 grams per kilo of meat. The mix consists of salt, pepper, onion, ginger, nutmeg, mace and coriander. It also contains the binder, which gives the 'frikandel' its firm and compact shape.
