Description

Pepper grows as berries on the tropical pepper plant, Piper nigrum. White pepper is made from unripe berries that are soaked in water with the result that they ferment. The berry bursts open and then the grain appears, it must then be washed thoroughly. White pepper is made therefore by removing the skin. After that is the pepper dried and broken. White pepper is less hot and aromatic in taste than black pepper.

Crushed white pepper, mild flavouring with numerous advantages

Crushed white pepper has a considerably milder flavour than black pepper. For this reason, it is regularly preferred in various dishes. Moreover, white pepper is often used in dishes with a light colour, because black pepper would otherwise remain visible. Crushed white pepper, also called coarsely ground pepper, can be ordered online from us in a package of 450 grams.

Crushed white pepper and the difference with black pepper

Crushed white pepper comes from the white peppercorns of the tropical pepper plant. This pepper has its origin in India. Peppercorns are in fact the dried berries of this plant. Black peppercorns are the unripe fruit of the plant. The white peppercorns have been given time to mature on the tree. After harvesting, the outside is soaked loose from the core and the latter is dried. The dried pepper is ground coarsely, resulting in a crushed white pepper.

crushed white pepper has a number of advantages over the use of whole or ground white peppercorns. For example, it retains its flavour a lot longer compared to ground pepper. When pepper is ground, it loses its flavour and aroma fairly quickly. Coarsely ground pepper has a significantly stronger flavour than the whole pellets. Crushed pepper is called poivre mignonette in French cuisine. In French cuisine, white pepper is used in broths and other dishes.

Crushed white pepper and your health

The ground pepper does not just add flavour. The spice, popular all over the world, is very healthy as well. It is a source of various vitamins, mainly vitamins C and K. Additionally, it contains iron and other important minerals. Crushed white pepper supports digestion and has an antibacterial effect.
