What is cayenne pepper?
Cayenne pepper is a finely ground powder made from dried cayenne peppers. It is mainly known for its sharp, direct heat. The flavor is fairly pure: hot, slightly smoky and peppery, without many extra spice aromas.
Cayenne pepper is often used to give dishes more kick without completely changing the flavor. A small amount is usually enough.
